The social media platform has been dominated by various social networks. No one is surprised to know that many of the social media users are very conversant with Facebook, more than with any other media. According to a recent research conducted by European digital strategists on different social networks, Facebook takes an uncontestable lead on the list of popularity. In the 137 countries studied, this social network secured the first spot in precisely 128 countries. Facebook is not only a force in Europe alone, its dominance throughout Australia, South and North America, Asia and the better part of Africa is huge.
The strategists estimate that the network has over eight hundred million active users, and the number is steadily growing. 22% of these users come from Europe. Rapidly making its way across the world, it is successfully taking over the leading competitors in Europe. In the December of 2011, Facebook greatly surpassed Hyves to take the lead in Holland. Just recently, it successfully edged out the Orkut social network in Brazil (not in Europe) with a large difference in the number of users.
Facebook Competitors in Europe also include Gree, Mixi and Mobage, which have a firm grip on the Japan’s social network industry. The precise number of Facebook user in Europe itself currently stands at 224 million and counting. The network has 203 and 220 million users in Asia and North America respectively.
One of the leading Facebook Competitors in Europe is certainly the Badoo social network that has taken toll in Belgium, Italy and Austria. Twitter and LinkedIn take the second and third positions respectively though they interchange in different countries in Europe.
